Course Description

This course is designed to explore the concepts of psychological safety, employee engagement, and patient safety. Participants will learn how fostering a psychologically safe workplace can enhance overall engagement. When we feel valued, we are more inclined to actively participate in organizational processes that contribute to a safe work environment. This increased engagement often leads to improved reporting of safety events and near misses, and improved scores in nationally reported outcome measures.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to: 1) define psychological safety; 2) understand the relationship between psychological safety and employee engagement; 3) recognize how psychological safety enhances event reporting and patient safety; 4) identify evidence-based strategies that promote psychological safety; and 5) discuss the healthcare technologies and innovative systems necessary for the effective implementation of PS.
